My landlord doesn't take cards, how does this work?
Most commercial landlords and managing agents only accept bank transfer or standing order. So if you want to put your rent on a credit card, to bridge the gap until your clients pay or earn points on a large payment, you need a way to route it. Payko does exactly that: you pay by credit card, your landlord gets a bank transfer, and they never need to change how they are paid.
How it works
Three steps, a few minutes, and your rent is paid.
Enter the payment
Select Rent on your dashboard, then enter your landlord or managing agent's bank details, the amount and your usual reference.
Pay by credit card
Pay Payko with your Visa or Mastercard credit card. You see the flat 4.9% fee in full before you confirm.
Your landlord gets a bank transfer
We send a standard bank transfer with your reference, in full, typically the next working day.
Who it's for
A full quarter's rent in one go is a big hit. Spread it over your card cycle instead.
Shops, studios, units and offices whose rent day rarely lines up with when income arrives.
When takings are lumpy, keep rent covered without dipping into an overdraft.
Rent is one of your largest regular outgoings. Worth points or cashback on the right card.
Why pay rent by credit card?
Keep the relationship clean
Your landlord is paid in full by the bank transfer they already expect, with your usual reference. No awkward conversation, and nothing for them to set up or agree to.
Bridge the gap until you are paid
Paying by credit card can leave the money in your account for up to 56 days, until your card statement is due. How long exactly depends on your card's billing cycle and when in the cycle you pay. Enough to cover the gap between rent day and when your own invoices land.
One flat fee, shown upfront
You see the exact 4.9% fee before you confirm. It works out as a small cost per day over the card cycle, often less than an overdraft or a late-rent penalty under your lease. No subscription, you only pay when you use it.
